Public Transport.

From the bus station take the X1 bus for Gt Yarmouth to the Sparrows Nest / Belle Vue Park but please be advised that it is a request bus stop soon after  passing the lighthouse. Buses 101 & 1A can also be used.

On foot from train station 23 mins. Bus station 20 mins.

Access

The museum has level access throughout and there is a disabled loo. Wheelchair access to the museum is by a side entrance. Please ask at reception for this to be opened. Close to the museum both Martello’s Coffee House and Giardino Italian Restaurant and Bar offer level access and have disabled loos.

Other good things to do nearby

Lowestoft Maritime Museum is set in one of the town’s delightful parks, Sparrow’s Nest Gardens. On the landscaped slopes above the museum are an iconic lighthouse and naval memorial. The Royal Naval Patrol Service Association, which looks after the memorial, also has a small museum in the park.

There’s a play area for toddlers near to the museum and if you walk to the sea and you’ll find atmospheric reminders of the area’s fishing past. The museum is just a few minutes walk from Ness Point, Britain’s most Easterly point.
